When she’s not singing in the choir or in the church office, you’ll usually find Kim Griswell-Lowry at a desk or in a café, writing. She has written about everything from exploding toilets to Thurgood Marshall and is the author of three picture books about a persistent pink pig, Rufus Leroy Williams III: Rufus Goes to School, Rufus Goes to Sea (both Oregon Book Awards finalists), and Rufus Blasts Off!. For twenty years, Kim worked in senior editorial positions in children’s and educational publishing, including at Highlights for Children, where she served as Coordinating Editor and last eye on every part of the magazine. Kim moved to the Rogue Valley from Portland, Oregon in 2011 to take the position of developmental editor of children’s books at Portable Press in Ashland. One of the questions she asked during her job interview was, “Are there any choirs in the valley?” The answer, of course, was yes! After considering the choices, Kim joined the Rogue Valley Peace Choir and that is where she met Rob Lowry. She’s been following him to whichever choir he leads ever since, and that brought her to St. Mark’s, not once, but twice! Kim and Rob feel extremely blessed to be back in the Valley with their St. Mark’s family.
