St. Mark’s Church
Here begins the good news of Jesus Christ ...
The opening words of Mark's Gospel remind us of our calling to be a place where we hear and proclaim the "good news of Jesus Christ."
That good news tells us of God's love for everyone. It's the same good news in our worship and fellowship. It's the same good news we enact in our ministries of care and concern, both for one another and our neighbors.
I hope you'll enjoy learning a bit more about us by exploring this website. Even more, I hope you'll come and worship with us at St. Mark's.
The Rev. Jedediah D. Holdorph II, Rector
P.S. Audio versions of recent sermons are available on our church website.
I also have a piece in our monthly newsletter.
In addition, I offer occasional reflections on a blog I call "The View from Here."
Father Jed offers a new posting on his blog, "The View from Here."
We are thrilled to welcome the Right Reverend Michael Hanley to St. Mark's on Sunday, March 16. He will be the preacher and celebrant at both of our morning services that day, as well as the featured guest at our Sunday forum between the morning services (at 9:10 am), meeting in the parish hall.
In addition, we'll have baptisms and confirmations to celebrate as part of the celebration at our 10 o'clock service.
It's going to be a great day. Please join us.
"Lent Madness" is a slightly silly and possibly irreverent way to explore the lives of some of the heroes of the faith who have gone before us. A bracket features 32 saints, pitting them up against each other in a bracket. Throughout the days of Lent (starting on Thursday, March 6), participants can go online and vote for the saint they want to see go deeper into the competition, until one of them is awarded the "Golden Halo" on Wednesday of Holy Week.
If you want to learn more about Lent Madness, there's an introduction at http://www.lentmadness.org/2014/03/new-to-lent-madness/. If you're ready to play, you can download a bracket to print and use at home here.
